Best archaeological sites
It goes without saying that anyone arriving in Greece must absolutely visit one of the most evocative places on the planet, the Acropolis of Athens, where the Parthenon and the Erechtheion stand out for their beauty and grandeur.
Two other unmissable sites in mainland Greece are #Mycenae, birthplace of the ancient Mycenaean civilization and famous for its “Lion Gate,”, #Olympia, where the Olympic Games were founded and held and where you can admire the first “Olympic Stadium”, #Epidaurus with its ancient theatre with perfect acoustics and #Delphi, with its sanctuary, in which the temple of Apollo stands out.

1) Crete is the largest island in Greece and, in addition to being famous for its beaches and cities, it is also renowned for the Palace of Knossos, with its labyrinth, where, according to myth, the “Minotaur” stood guard, slain by Theseus with the help of a thread given to him by Ariadne.
2) #Naxos is the very place where, according to legend, Ariadne was abandoned by Theseus, with whom she had fallen in love. This island, the largest of the Cyclades, was also devoted to Apollo, whose temple is famous, with its gate, the #Portara, but also to Demeter, given the remains of the temple dedicated to her.
3) #Delos, is In the heart of the Cyclades archipelago, not far from Mykonos island. It a big open-air sanctuary, a protected and uninhabited area and an UNESCO site. It is really full of statues, columns and ancient remains. Delos is truly a precious gem not to be missed.
4) #Rhodes is a very large island, with sea, nature, and wonderful cities, such as #Rhodes, with its port, which in ancient times was heralded by the famous #Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and with the citadel of the #Knights of Rhodes, and #Lindos, located to the south on the western coast and featuring an ancient acropolis, with a spectacular view over the entire bay.
5) #According to myth, Santorini is the ancient Atlantis. This is because modern-day Santorini, which is volcanic in nature, is only a portion of the ancient island, largely submerged following a devastating earthquake. The remains of ancient Thera are in #Akrotiri, an important archaeological site, a mini-Greek Pompeii, with remains of buildings, shops, and streets, whose famous paintings are preserved in the museum of the same name.
