Rent a car/bike

Anyone organizing a trip to a Greek island must consider, based on its size, whether it is necessary to rent a car, a motorcycle, a quad, or a bicycle. In Crete, Euboea, Rhodes, but also in Naxos, a car or a large-displacement motorcycle is absolutely essential, given the size of these islands and considering the distance between one town and another and between one beach and another. In Santorini, Mykonos, and Paros, a scooter or a quad works perfectly fine because everything is easily reachable.

In Koufonissi, Kastellorizo, or Paxos, the distances are minimal, the roads are not always paved, and a bicycle is more than sufficient for getting around.

Finally, one should consider whether to book a private vehicle from home, taking into account the possible distance of the bay or village where one will be staying from the main town or from the island’s main locations, which could make it extremely difficult to find something available at an acceptable price.
